Big change can be scary for kids. In the same way that when we do not understand what is going on we feel some fear and rush to make sense of our world, kids do the same thing. It is helpful to remember their perspective is different and appropriate given their cognitive ability and life experience. If we responded how they do to change, yes, it would be unreasonable. However, for them, it is timely and normal. Change, though sometimes a tough time to navigate with littles, can be an incredible opportunity to understand a bit of their unique fears about life. This opportunity gives you the chance to love them with more direction, intention, and specificity.
